Well we are heading into the month of love tomorrow, has everyone got an idea of what they are buying their valentine?  No?  Then you better get to thinking about it, because…

If you want it all, lay it on the line
It’s the only life you got, so you gotta live it big time (Big Time Rush)

You gain…

Inky: “Life is like this”; is what she said when she announced that she had cancer.  She smiled patted my hand and said, “we’ll take this on get through it and it’ll all be okay.”

You know the thing that stuck with me in that moment?  The thing that left the hardest impression?  It wasn’t the ‘C’ word.  Nope.  It was that she patted my hand and smiled.  It was then that I realized a hero happens were you aren’t looking…

This morning…

dehome

…I woke from dreaming of home.  The soft crash of waves, distant boat horns, and the touch of a salt filled breeze.  Then, I opened the curtains to a whirl of white, and black shadowed mountains looming over this tiny cabin.

Time to make an executive decision!

Back to my bed, and my dreams….

Still, what I want in my life

The bridge…

Punta

……will only take you halfway there, to those mysterious lands you long to see.

Through gypsy camps and swirling Arab fair, and moonlit woods where unicorns run free.

So come and walk awhile with me, share the twisting trails and wondrous worlds I’ve known.

But this bridge will only take you halfway there.   The last few steps you have to take alone.

Inky:  Punta Pita is a 27-acre residential area that hugs the coastline of Santiago, Chile.  Stairways appear and disappear on a trail walkway designed to surrender to the geography around it.  Beautiful and completely man made.

Inky: “if only it were as simple as that”, my mind natters it’s business suit perfectly pressed, the pumps low, and shiny as it turns to the other occupant of the room.   “It is,” heart falls in a relaxed crumple upon the couch, “you only have to get in something more comfy, and let me take you there….”

“You know, my dear, it isn’t safe for a little girl to walk through these woods alone.”

Red Riding Hood said, “I find your sexist remark offensive in the extreme, but I will ignore it because of your traditional status as an outcast from society, the stress of which has caused you to develop your own, entirely valid, worldview. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must be on my way.

Inky: I needed a little dark humor this morning with my coffee…

I sit….

kaifagerstrom

…..beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair

I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see

For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green

I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know

But all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door
